January 2008 Updates

As you can tell we decided to take the month of January off from posting any updates to the blog. Seemed like recovering from the holidays, Joshua's 1st birthday and the general craziness that is our life we just never found the time to make any new updates...so we'll do our best to give you a quick overview.

Joshua had his first birthday and had friends and family over to celebrate. He was rather timid at first with the cake but after a couple minutes he figured out it was ok to "dive in". He received a number of toys to add to the collection he and is big brother already have...they are starting to take over what little open space we have left in the house so we are told everyone next year if you insist on getting the boys any birthday presents to think savings bonds and books (less space and they are much easier to hide / cleanup).

Trevor started back at school after a nice holiday break and it seems as though he missed is friends. He continues to enjoy being the "Door Holder" (gets to hold the doors open for anyone coming into the school) and LOVES it when it's his turn for the "Sharing Bag" (a.k.a. show-n-tell). As we are typing this he is in Eau Claire helping Grandpa Stewart start to take apart their John Deere "B" tractor; a "little" project Grandpa and Trevor are doing this year.

In January we also took and extended weekend get-away with Grandma and Grandpa Wall to Three Bears Lodge in Warrens, Wisconsin (Christmas present from the Grandparents). The lodge was new, nice and clean...plus the featured attraction is the indoor waterpark which the kids seemed to enjoy, although Trevor seemed to only like the hot tub which was ok with Mom and Dad. Some of our extended family from Milwaukee also joined us so it made for a nice weekend away from the Twin Cities. One note, if you ever go to Three Bears Lodge make sure to bring your own meals (all the rooms were suites with mini-kitchens) as the food at the Lodge restaurant left a great deal to be desired.

Nicole and Jeremy have both stated they are getting "Cabin Fever" since the weather has been cold, snowy, and pretty much just sucks (although we live in Minnesota so its our own damn fault). We continue to talk about moving to a warmer climate (Texas seems to come up quite frequently). Maybe in a few years we'll actually move south but for now we just felt like bi$%^ing about it.

Hope your February is off to a great start and will post another update soon!
